Last week I posted about becoming a virtual volunteer (a volunteer whose work happens online), but what if you're a nonprofit that wants to start a virtual volunteer program?
Here are a few resources to get you going:
The Virtual Volunteering Guidebook: How to Apply the Principles of Real-World Volunteer Management to Online Service by Susan J. Ellis and Jayne Cravens.
Susan Ellis of Energize, Inc.'s list of articles, e-books and websites about Using the Internet and Virtual Volunteering.
Jayne Cravens' of Coyote Communications' articles about online and virtual volunteering.
"Ask the Expert: Jayne Cravens — Online Volunteering" on the Corporation for National and Community Service's site.
ServiceLeader.org's Virtual Volunteer Resources.
Tom McPhee of Volunteer Power's book (written with his son, Jonathan) The New Breed: Understanding and Equipping the 21st Century Volunteer.
What are some of your favorite virtual volunteer program management tips and resources?

Super resources on virtual volunteering. You may also want to add "About Online Volunteering: Information Non-Profits Can Use" by Randy Tyler (Canadian charity). Randy Tyler has been a leader in virtual volunteering since 1998. He created the first podcast about virtual volunteering and the global directory of web sites where non-profits can list their virtual volunteer opportunities. Their Web site also show how virtual volunteer management implemented via the Web (http://www.mys.ca/volunter).
Hope this helps those organizations considering such an initiative.

Hi S. Swindle -
Thanks so much for the link to http://www.mys.ca/volunter
I came across the podcast at http://www.mys.ca/aov , but when I saw that the last show was on March 25th, I thought perhaps it was no longer active, and never made it to http://www.mys.ca/volunter which is full of great resources!
Thanks so much!
